When it comes to language setting within the project web app, there are several adjustable screws, e.g. in the SharePoint admin center, in the PWA site settings and within Delve. Some options are only available for administrators and some can be used from the user himself. We’ll have a closer look to the language and regional settings within project online in this blog post.
SharePoint Admin Center
If a new site collection is provisioned by the SharePoint admin, a language selection and time zone must be selected. The language selection is important, because all the system generated enterprise custom fields within the PWA (e.g. RBS, Resource Department, Team Name) are setup in this language and cannot be changed afterwards! It will also be the default language of the site.
Site Settings within the PWA
Open the site settings of your PWA in order to go to the site administration section:
- Language Settings
Site collection admins can specify alternate languages, which can be controlled by the settings of the individual user afterwards. The selection ranges from a multitude of European languages to Russian or languages from the Asian region, nearly everything is available.
- Regional Settings
The default time zone is editable in the PWA settings. Like on every other SharePoint site, the regional settings control e.g. how numbers, dates, and the time is displayed. Furthermore you can chose a type of calendar, define the work week and time format.
Individual User Settings
In Delve, Update profile and expand the note How can I change language and regional settings. Click on the link and you’ll see the edit details page. Finally, the required settings are behind the dots on the upper right corner.
Save the settings, close and reopen your browser again. It may take up to five minutes after the language changes actually.by
